Description

6 Days Tanzania wildebeest migration safari

The migration starts in the Serengeti around January when the wildebeests give birth to their young. The newborns are vulnerable to predators, so the wildebeests need to move to areas with plenty of food to ensure their survival. As the dry season sets in, the herds move towards the northern part of the Serengeti, where the grass is still green.

Around June, the wildebeests reach the Mara River, a treacherous obstacle that they must cross to get to the Masai Mara. The river is full of crocodiles and other predators, and many wildebeests die during the crossing. Those that make it to the other side continue their journey, feasting on the lush grasses of the Mara until November, when they start the journey back to the Serengeti.

A Tanzania wildebeest migration safari offers a chance to witness this incredible spectacle up close. Visitors can witness the wildebeests crossing the Mara River, grazing on the vast plains of the Serengeti, and interacting with other wildlife such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and elephants. The migration is a true test of survival and a reminder of the incredible adaptability of nature.

To experience the Tanzania wildebeest migration safari, visitors can choose from a variety of safari packages, ranging from budget to luxury. Most tours offer game drives, walking safaris, and cultural experiences with the Maasai people. The best time to visit is between June and November, but the exact timing depends on the movements of the herds and can vary from year to year.

In conclusion, the Tanzania wildebeest migration safari is an incredible experience that should be on every wildlife lover’s bucket list. Witnessing the wildebeests’ epic journey across the Serengeti and the Mara River is a humbling reminder of the beauty and resilience of nature.

Our Serengeti safari and Zanzibar beach holiday organized by Amin at Taaaftours.com was unforgettable. We had the benefit of an experienced guide/driver for the trips around Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crate and Serengeti – Luka was extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way
for us to see the Cheetahs, Lions , Elephants and the collection of Zebras, Gazelles, Wildebeest, Giraffes, Hippos, etc. All the arrangements for transport (safari and flights from Seronera to Zanzibar) were on time and the lodges reflected the natural surroundings of the parks – such as the Tarangire Simba Lodge where the animals came right up to watering hole near the lodge to drink the water every evening. We enjoyed relaxing at the beach to recover from the “African Massage” from the safari!

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a trip to the Serengeti with Taaaf Tours, and it was nothing short of spectacular! I visited during the rainy season in January 2024, and despite the wet weather, the adventure was truly unforgettable.

The communication was clear and prompt, and the itinerary was well-planned to ensure I got the most out of my Serengeti experience. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the wildlife and landscape, making each game drive informative and exciting.

The rainy season added a unique charm to the landscape, with lush greenery and fewer crowds. The guides knew exactly where to find the animals, and I was lucky enough to witness some incredible wildlife interactions. The accommodations were comfortable and well-situated, offering great views and a cozy retreat after a day of exploration.

Taaaf Tours went above and beyond to make sure my trip was perfect. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine love for the Serengeti made this adventure truly memorable. I highly recommend Taaaf Tours to anyone looking to experience the magic of the Serengeti, rain or shine!

The safari + Zanzibar tour my family took in Tanzania in late August 2023 was one of the most memorable vacations we have had in many years. Thank you Amin for your thoughtful arrangements and care throughout before and during and after the trip. The local guide is experienced and made genuine efforts to fill our trip with many exciting sightings. Seeing the cheetah hunting and kill, the wildebeest crossing were the absolute highlights, so good that we can even ignore the underwhelming rhinos visit…
Highly recommend Amin and this group to anyone who wants to go on a safari tour.

From the moment I landed in Tanzania to my departure from Zanzibar, the team at taaaftours.com orchestrated a seamless and incredible journey. The attention to detail was impeccable – accommodations were comfortable with a touch of local charm, and the variety of activities kept me engaged throughout. Whether it was tracking wildlife in the national parks or strolling through Stone Town’s narrow alleys, each day brought new adventures. I’m truly grateful for the memories created and would recommend Amin again without hesitation.
